About the Artist and Print: Australian artist David Davies painted “A summer evening” during a five-year sojourn he took through Australia following a period of travel and study in Europe, during which time historians speculate that he was likely influenced by Whistler and other artists, which gives Summer Evening a softer sensibility than much of his earlier work. It is now a part of the collection of the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia.
