About The Artist:John White Alexander, started as an office boy at Harper’s Weekly in New York and became an illustrator in 1875. He taught drawing at Princeton University, traveled extensively, studied at the Royal Academy in Munich and traveled in Italy, eventually moving to Paris, where he exhibited at the Socit Nationale des Beaux-Arts. His works include a mural for the Library of Congress in 1895 and another for the Carnegie Institute in 1905. Alexander received numerous awards for his art throughout his career.
