Konstantin Grcic has been labeled a minimalist but he prefers to emphasize the elegant simplicity of his work. He began his career working for an antique furniture restorer and later apprenticed with a cabinetmaker, learning invaluable hands-on skills. He found his passion for furniture design when attending the Royal College of Art in London. His thoughtful design process and respect for the nature of materials and the realities of production have earned him a stellar portfolio of clients including Flos, Magis, Muji, and Vitra. You have to think not only about the object you’re designing, but everything else about it, he says, characterizing his comprehensive view of design.
