About The Print: A detailed drawing of the sun shining on and past the earth, thereby darkening one side of moon. Meant to be symbolic of the way in which the light is sometimes darkened through the intervention of the earth.
About The Artist: Vincent Laurensz van der Vinne (II) was a Dutch artist known for his genre scenes and still lifes. He is recognized for his detailed and vibrant depictions of everyday life, including lively market scenes and intricately arranged still lifes. His work often reflects the Dutch Golden Age’s emphasis on realism and attention to detail. Despite his contributions to Dutch art, van der Vinne’s work is less well-known today compared to some of his peers, but he remains an important figure in the study of 17th-century Dutch genre painting.
